Happy 3rd Birthday to The Geek Stuff

by Ramesh Natarajan on June 15, 2011

TGS is 3 years old now. You have been a huge part of this blog’s growth, and I sincerely thank you for your support.

Leave a comment with your birthday wishes to this blog.

Last night I was sitting in the clubhouse in our community, and was outlining a draft for one of the future article. It was a quiet environment and my mind started drifting around little bit, and I was thinking about how much I enjoy playing around with different flavors of *nix and open source technologies. I have been doing that for more than 17 years now.

During the last several years, it is more than just playing around, I’ve been building and maintaining IT infrastructures that are powered by open source technologies.

Implementing it in the real world mission critical environment is the most fun activity for me. It is way better than just playing around in a sandbox. Whenever I’m in the datacenter working on critical projects or production issues, I’m in the zone, and I forget everything else, and just enjoy what I’m doing at that moment.

However sharing my knowledge with you is extremely fulfilling for me, than just implementing it in the real world environment. I’m very committed in sharing all the knowledge I’ve gained over the years in a way that benefits you. In this process, I’m also learning along with you.

While the above thoughts were going through my mind, I suddenly realized that its been 3 years since I started this blog, and I almost forgot that it is birthday time for the blog.

On May 27th, 2008, I published my 1st article. Now we have over 450+ high quality articles on Linux, open source and related technologies. I also managed to write and publish 4 books during this time frame (including the Linux 101 Hacks free eBook).

Maintaining a high quality blog requires lot of motivation and commitment, which I was able to do only because of the lovely support provided by you.

Thank You!. I really appreciate all the support given by all the regular readers of the blog. You all have motivated me in more ways than you know.

Well, I’ve started reading this blog about more than a year ago. All I want to say is THANK YOU, really.

You take the time and the effort to write high quality posts, really clear, and fun. I hope you never get tired of this. Everything you write about, I’ve the exercise to try and play with it, and of course, learn meanwhile.

If you ever come to Buenos Aires, post it, and I’ll ve at the airport with a lot of sysadmins waiting for you, just to thank you personally.

Oh, and happy birthday! :-)
